Folklore Group Show

I have a group of small watercolour monotypes on display this year at:

SALON NINETY ONE End-of-year salon-style group show in aid of True North
OPENS Saturday 01 December 2018 at 11AM | 91 Kloof Street, Gardens, Cape Town, South Africa.

Accessible, affordable artwork across a broad range of mediums by some of Salon Ninety One’s favourite emerging and established creatives. This year our Gallery and Exhibiting Artists will be donating ten percent of all artwork sales to the True North Organisation. Spoil yourself or a loved one with that special one-of-a-kind artwork and make a difference to the life of someone much younger and less fortunate. True North is a non-profit organisation that is pioneering Early Childhood Development (ECD) initiatives within marginalised communities. The historical lack of adequate provisioning of basic services to poor communities manifests itself within all spheres of society, ultimately resulting in a vast loss of human potential. The long-term ripple effects of inequality includes increased rates of unemployment, disease, substance abuse and the fragmentation of family units, and unfortunately young children are the most at risk. An incredible developmental window of opportunity exists within these early years, and it rapidly diminishes with age. This potential for growth into a “whole” person is not limited to academic development, but encompasses every part of the child’s world. As we celebrate ten wonderful years of Salon Ninety One, we recognise the light, love and hard work that has gone into building the True North organisation since 2007. Join Salon91 and our generous young artists this festive season in our quest to give the Vrygrond community and the youth of our country a brighter future.

For more information about the True North Organisation, please visit their website.

Art Under the Bed

Due to popular demand, we will be hosting our 5th Art Under the Bed Sale.

Art Under the Bed, is a collaborative art sale between emerging and established artists and art students. As artists we often make large amounts of beautiful work that gets “stored” under our bed’s at the end of exhibitions and exams. It is time to salvage this amazing work and bring it to an audience in much need of affordable, unique pieces, in an informal, relaxed environment.

Please contact me if you require any further details. Also, follow our instagram feed, @artunderthebed for updates on work.

We look forward to seeing you.

The Paddock III POSTED | Paris to Johannesburg

THE PADDOCK III: POSTED (from Sydney to New York to Paris to Johannesburg to …)

A travelling postcard exhibition and Instagram project

Opening at 11h30 on 6 October 2018
at The Blue Door Print Studio Gallery
24 Chatou Rd, corner of Landau Terrace
Melville
Johannesburg

A global, traveling postcard and Instagram project showcasing the work of abstract artists in various cities. This artist-run project selects a curator in each city, who receives the posted artworks and invites 14 local artists to make abstract postcard size works. The 14 new artists’ works, together with all the works in the journey thus far, are also posted to an Instagram account in a virtual exhibition.

The concept was initiated by The Paddock, 14 artists from the National Art School in Sydney, with the first exhibition curated by Lisa Sharp. The exhibition was posted from Sydney to New York, and there curated by Michelle Le Dain, Leanne Stella & Art in FLUX. At the end of the New York show the exhibition traveled to Paris, at Galerie Abstract Project, under the curatorship of Bogumila Strojna.

This is the fourth edition, posted from Paris to Johannesburg, showing at The Blue Door, curated by Derek Zietsman.

The South African artists participating in the exhibition are:

Alex Hamilton | Bevan de Wet | Bianca Shoul
Chonat Getz | Colijn Strydom | Collin Cole
Dina Kroon | Gordon Froud | Gregg Price
Io Makandal | Kyra Pape | Linda Rademan
Natasha Norman | Yannis Generalis

Exhibition closes on 29 October 2018
